Easy Process
Each claim is unique, but working with a representative has some universal steps.
Initial Consultation
Representation Filings
Review Claims File
During an initial consultiaton phone call, I will devote the time, care, and attention to listen to what struggles you've had, which claims you would like to appeal, and I will determine possible strategies to consider.
If the representation
seems like a good fit, I will email you an Appointment of Representative form and a Retainer Agreement to electronically sign. Once I sign and file those with the VA, I will be your official represetative.
I willl gain access to your electronic claims file and review your entire claims history for any and all appealable issues. During the reivew, I will determine specifically a strategy to win your claims.
Strategy Session Communication
Evidence Developement
Submission of Appeal
Once I determine the most effective appeal strategy, I will communicate with you to obtain your approval of the recommend next steps.
We will develop the evidence needed to win your claims. Often, this involves lay statements, medical treatment records, medical nexus opinions, and/or vocational reports.
Once we finish developing the argument and evidence to win your claim, I will file your appeal with an argument and evidence. We will then wait for the decision.
As always, there are NO ATTORNEY FEES unless I win your claim and get you back pay.
Why the Law Office of
Alex T. Shapiro?
Experience and Expertise
Veterans want an attorney who has extensive experience in handling veterans' benefits cases, understands the complexities of the VA system, and is knowledgeable about the relevant laws and regulations.
Clear Communication
Veterans want an attorney who can clearly explain the process, their options, and the potential outcomes of their case. They appreciate someone who is responsive, patient, and willing to answer questions.
Track Record of Success
We have a successful history of representing veterans and winning millions of dollars worth or back pay.
Licensed, Accredited, Admitted
I am a licensed attorney accredited before the Department of Veterans Affairs to prepare, present and prosecute claims before the VA and Board of Veterans' Appeals. I am also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. No matter where you are in the process, I'll be there to fight for you.
Commitment and Compassion
Veterans appreciate an attorney who genuinely cares about their well-being and is committed to helping them receive the benefits they deserve. A compassionate attorney is more likely to go the extra mile to ensure the best outcome for their clients.
Affordable Fees
I only work on what is called a "contingency fee basis." This means that there are no fees whatsoever unless I win your appeal. I take a small percentage of the back pay, which is "contingent" on me winning the appeal for you. I offer free consultations, and I often perform pro bono (free) work for veterans filing initial claims or increased rating claims.
